Castletown Golf Club

Dear Members
By now most of you will have seen me around the Links over the past 18 months. It's been a pleasure getting to know some of you on and off the golf course and I look forward to developing those relationships as I step into my new role.

My love for our game was passed down to me through my father. He would take me on the course from a very young age with chopped down clubs and I'd watch in awe at the way he'd hit the ball off into the distance. Later, into my early teens I'd spend all my spare time practicing and playing, competing in junior events and chipping and putting in the living room. By the time I left school, all I wanted to do was play golf and I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to work for PGA Professional, Andrew Dyson as his assistant at Mount Murray.

Twenty odd years on and my passion for our sport is still the same. Older, wiser and with only a fraction of the natural ability I may have once possessed, I find myself in the exciting position of being part of the team at one of the finest Links courses in the UK.

I am positive about the future at Castletown. We have a wonderful golf course with a young and dynamic group of people with the enthusiasm to help drive our game forward. As you know, we have just welcomed a new Golf Professional, Charlie Simpson to the Club and I firmly believe he will be a great asset to our team and you, the Membership. I would encourage you all to get to know Charlie and see how he may help you with your game. Having already taken a lesson from him, I can assure you his wealth of knowledge will most certainly be of benefit to you.

Let me take this opportunity to extend a warm and genuine invitation to everyone at the Links of communication. Should you have any issues or ideas you wish to discuss, please do come and find me and I will be happy to sit and have a coffee together.

Best wishes

Over the course of the next two months Andi will be learning the ropes from the current competitions and handicap secretaries in order that from 1st January 2018 he will be leading this role on behalf of the club and the Links. In addition to other duties Andi will be a key person for members to liaise with in respect to any queries you may have regarding your membership.
