Castletown Golf Links
From Dronfield, near Sheffield Dave joined Hallowes Golf Club at the age of 15 and quickly became addicted to the game taking over from his love of football and cricket. Within his first year of joining he gained a single figure handicap and quickly went on to gain representative honours for club, city and county at both junior and senior level.
At the age of 20 Dave started working at Hallowes Golf Club in the Pros shop and under the Guidance of Philip Dunn became a fully qualified PGA Professional in April 2003. Once qualified he moved to Emirates Golf club, Dubai to work for world renowned golf coach Peter Cowen. Dave had always worked with Peter on his own game throughout his amateur and professional career. Working with Peter on a professional level was a great opportunity not only to improve his own coaching but also to work alongside some of the worlds best golfers. These included Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke, Thomas Bjorn, Louis Oosthuizen and Graeme Mcdowell to name just a few. Peter also coaches current Masters Champion Danny Willett.
Dave spent almost 10 years at Emirates progressing through the ranks eventually becoming Head Professional in 2011. In this time he became well versed in all areas of golf club life, from club repairs and custom fitting, coaching, golf course maintenance to the organising and running of golf events, competitions and handicaps. He is also Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) trained so is able to help golfers of all levels with any aspect of their game including Golf fitness.
Since leaving Dubai in October 2014 Dave has specialised in coaching and custom club fitting helping golfers from beginner level to scratch handicap get the most out of their game, both in performance and enjoyment.
Dave is delighted to be part of the team at Castletown Golf Links and is motivated to develop and improve the standard of golf on the Island.
