Castletown Golf Links
Greetings from the Peninsula, I hope you're enjoying the Easter weekend.
Our competitions have been well supported this week. We have another mixed individual stableford on Bank Holiday Monday (Tomorrow) and this can be entered by the usual way on the website. If you are looking for a game, please contact the Pro Shop and we'll try to get you fixed up.
We had some rather impressive scoring on Wednesday in the 12 hole Manx Cancer Help competition. Coming 3rd and playing off 5 was Mark Teare. The man from 'Town scored 4 birdies, however, the gloss was taken off his 26 points with drops on the 8th and 12th holes. In second place, John Tinsley played with great spirit and made a welcomed return to the podium with 27 points. He'll be dining out on tales of his eagle 3 at the third for sure.
Our winner was one of our most naturally gifted ladies. Marlene Akitt accrued an outstanding 28 points over 12 holes. Marlene is the proud owner of a rather delightful swing and will be featuring in the prizes again soon.
Nearest the pin winner was our course navigation specialist Frankie Doherty.
The Good Friday competition enjoyed a very healthy turn out with some of our most talented golfers at the top. Jack Yardley was also in the prizes. Neil Cartwright just edged Jack out into 3rd place on a tied 36 points. If we had a golfer of the year up and running, then our winner Steven Boyd would be leading. A sublime one under par gross on the back nine claimed the winner's booty and 38 points. Well played off a 2 handicap!
Scoring 27 points was our Lady Captain, Dawn Sissons. Members may know, she had recently featured on the course at her 'drive in' dressed in a convincing rabbit outfit! Our very own Easter bunny went rampant on the greens with the putter and scooped the prize for best lady.
In case you missed it, here is a lovely photo of the Ladies Section enjoying Dawn's evening.
