PHIL GAMES PLAYS THE WINNING FORMULA AGAIN

Not content with finishing first in last weekend’s Tower Insurance sponsored 4BBB Phil Games (17) followed it up in the Winter League with another stunning Stableford score. His unbelievable 49 points came from 17 holes played in one under gross par.

Apart from a solitary N/R on the Road Hole Games carded four bogeys, ten pars plus three birdies in an incredible two under par back nine which also attracted the handicappers attention.

Starting birdie, par, triple bogey followed by three bogeys second placed Guy Murray (14) looked set for another typically erratic adventure.  Then he became a model of comparative consistency shooting nine pars and three further bogeys making 43 points.

Third placed John Ledwidge (16) also started with a birdie and added nine pars plus six nett pars to his tally. An N/R on the 12th and a single pointer on the 14th restricted his score but Ledwidge stepped in with 42 points.

With just three single pointers Chris Blackburn (21) captured fourth spot with 41 points helped in part by a fine four pointer par on the 11th. On the same score our new captain Geoff Sugden (26) landed nine nett birdies, six nett pars and only one N/R to nick fifth place ahead of Steven Boyd (4) who needed a sub-par round for his hard earned 41 points and sixth place.

Andy Lagden (6) won the nine holes ‘midweeker’ with a lovely one over par performance for 20 points. In second place on 19 points Peter Easthope (6) birdied the 1st and nett birdied the 2nd which more than balanced out his three bogeys. Gary Ashe (4) played to his handicap for 18 points and third place.

This coming weekend is the second round of the previously postponed reverse greensomes which spell checker aptly tried to autocorrect to gruesomes.
