JAX FISHER AND GARETH MORRIS WIN THE RECORD-BREAKING CASTLETOWN CUPS

Over 200 players turned out for Saturday’s Capital International sponsored Castletown Cup competitions. This was a record entry number. The ladies Castletown Cup was won by former captain, Jax Fisher with a neat nett 74. Gareth Morris needed a card countback to take the men's trophy with his nifty nett 65.

WAGSTAFFE WINDS-UP TO WIN BOGEY COMPETITION

Sunday 28th June 2020

The bogey men were out in force at Castletown Golf Club on Saturday. Nearly forty percent of the field synchronized their scores with the stroke index. It was therefore only a slight surprise that there was a two-way tie at the top on (+9) in the George Woods Bogey Cup. Both the winner, Jon Wagstaffe, and second-placed Ash Sansbury were playing off (14) including two strokes for utilising the white tees.

DAVE QUAYLE WINS FIRST SMP PARTNERS MEDAL OF THE SEASON

With the favourable breeze big hitting Dave Quayle (4) relished taking on the championship tees in the SMP Partners sponsored monthly medal at Castletown Golf Club on Saturday. Elated by his eagle on the 12th, Quayle was equanimous about three blighting bogeys. With the four stroke black tees allowance Quayle’s quality one over par performance transformed into a competition winning nett 65.

NEW COURSE, NEW RECORDS ALL ROUND

A special mention goes to our vice-captain Gez Bradley (1). He may have finished sixth with 43 points, but Bradley had the distinction of adding a new course record (70) to his list of golfing achievements.

BETTER COURSE MANAGEMENT STRATEGY MIGHT HELP

Amid some celebration competition golf resumed at Castletown Golf Links this past weekend. As it was a late announcement most players were content to play their already booked friendly social game. Having to download an App in order to upload Covid-19 virus free scores put off some players and the windy weather dissuaded others.

FAIRWAY TO SEVEN - A NEW NORMAL

Our captain, Graham Harris, was presented with a plaque by club president Sam Skelton. The socially distanced onlookers also politely applauded as our honorary secretary, Robert Gardner, and the lady captain Maryann Dunn made up the first fourball setting off from new tee boxes.
