WINTER REVERSE GREENSOMES WIN FOR ECKERSLEY & GLYNN

Paul Eckersley and Steven Glynn were the runaway winners of the winter reverse greensomes. Their fine five over par 77, nett 66.2, included two birdies, ten pars, five bogeys and a slippery seven on the Racecourse Hole. They won the event by 3.6 shots but finish low down in the cumulative league table – best two of three rounds- as this was their first joint venture.

BOWEN LEADS THE LEAGUE AS PAST CHAMPION DOHERTY DEFIES THE DELUGE

Past champion Frankie Doherty (9) generated 23 of his winning 39 stableford points with an adventurous level par front nine which included three birdies in the first four holes. Doherty ended at six over par after suffering his second double bogey of the day into the driving rain on the 15th.

Top spinning to success Steven Boyd went round in a remarkable two under par on the 17 holes he completed while Dave Quayle crafted a luscious level par performance including four birdies and four bogeys. Team-mates David Price and Gez Bradley played their parts perfectly supplementing the Stableford scores with two birdies, ten pars and eight bogeys between them.

A SUCCESSFULL VALENTINE'S WEEK FOR DAVID AND MICHELLE BOWEN

David Bowen (16) acquired the 12 points on offer this weekend but his winning 42 Stableford points was equalled and countback went down to the last six holes. Bowen went round in ten over after carding a birdie, six pars and a further eleven nett pars. Michelle Bowen (36), David’s wife, won the mixed ‘midweeker’ nine hole Stableford on countback with 21 points thanks to four pointer pars on the 4th and 6th.

NO BALLAST JUST FULL BLAST FOR GUY MURRAY

Monday 11th February 2019

Guy Murray (14) blasted his way to victory with 34 points from his powerful eight over par round. Parring three of the first four holes Murray escaped the Road Hole with a double bogey for his only single pointer. Then four successive bogeys were ended by a par on the 13th. Murray managed to play par golf from there on in as bogeys on the 14th and 18th were balanced out by back-to-back four pointer birdies on the 16th and 17th.'

FRANCIS THODAY SHOOTS A NETT 61 AND YET STILL LOSES HIS 4BBB

Sunday 3rd February 2019

Francis Thoday (15) joined those pilloried people who score 47 points by winning the club Stableford on Saturday by four clear points after two birdies, ten pars and six bogeys. Remarkably, even with a nett 61, Thoday still ended up on the losing 4BBB team and consequently had to buy the coffee.
