Castletown Golf Links
"I’m delighted to announce that King William’s College and The Buchan School are teaming up with Castletown Golf Links to launch a Golf Academy for our students.
The Academy has two programmes – ‘Youth Development’ is designed for those aged between 7 and 16 as an introduction to golf, whilst the ‘Elite’ class is designed for young golfers who already have a handicap.
In addition to its main programmes, the Academy will be running summer camps for our pupils this July, and starting in September 2018 golf scholarships will be available for students entering the school in both the Lower Fourth and Lower Sixth. The Golf Awards will be up to the value of 20% of the tuition fee, and those holding a Golf Award will join the Academy’s Elite programme.
The classic links course which dates back to 1892 is widely regarded as one of the best – and most picturesque – in the British Isles and it provides the perfect opportunity for young players of all abilities to develop their golfing skills whilst studying at King William’s College. Working alongside Castletown Golf Links, our Golf Academy will offer exceptional practice facilities and programmes for beginners and advanced golfers ensuring it is at the forefront of school golf."
Golf offers pupils a fantastic opportunity to get active outside in the fresh air, whilst developing balance and coordination physically and helping to nurture character and sportsmanship, which are all at the absolute core of the game. We have designed programmes to help the young golfers develop, whether they are complete beginners or experienced players, and in addition to the outdoor facilities, we can’t wait to get the student’s trialling our new indoor practice facility, offering the latest technology to allow for fun interactive coaching year round. Watch this space, as some of the future leading sportsmen and women coming from the Isle of Man, might just be golfers!
