We'd like to update you on a very exciting development for the Links - the build of four new bunkers with stunning revetted faces in association with Ecobunker, the brainchild of Mr. Richard Allen. The first bunker has now been completed by our green keeping team on the 18th fairway. The process has allowed us to re-define the bunker shape - moulding it into the fairway, there is new drainage and a base lining that will be entirely rabbit proof and will also stop any stones being dug up to the surface from below (to be added shortly). In addition to removing the issues of stones in bunkers, the base lining will act to allow the depth of sand and consistency of playing surface to be maintained more easily. The bunker face construction consists of up to 60 layers of recycled astro turf. The beauty of the structure is that revetted faces are of course classic links style whilst being massively more resilient than traditional methods using natural turf. Next time you're at the Links please take an opportunity to view it for yourself and feel free to pass your feedback on to Dave or Will or indeed the greenkeepers themselves. The finished playing level will be approximately 5 inches higher than at present. Here's how they did it...
Those members wishing to use a buggy may do so with caution but please avoid using the hill from left of the 5th green to the 6th tee & the area between 7th tees and 9th green. Please stick to driving in the semi rough and not on the fairways.

Paul Eckersley and Steven Glynn were the runaway winners of the winter reverse greensomes. Their fine five over par 77, nett 66.2, included two birdies, ten pars, five bogeys and a slippery seven on the Racecourse Hole. They won the event by 3.6 shots but finish low down in the cumulative league table – best two of three rounds- as this was their first joint venture.

Past champion Frankie Doherty (9) generated 23 of his winning 39 stableford points with an adventurous level par front nine which included three birdies in the first four holes. Doherty ended at six over par after suffering his second double bogey of the day into the driving rain on the 15th.

Top spinning to success Steven Boyd went round in a remarkable two under par on the 17 holes he completed while Dave Quayle crafted a luscious level par performance including four birdies and four bogeys. Team-mates David Price and Gez Bradley played their parts perfectly supplementing the Stableford scores with two birdies, ten pars and eight bogeys between them.
