We'd like to update you on a very exciting development for the Links - the build of four new bunkers with stunning revetted faces in association with Ecobunker, the brainchild of Mr. Richard Allen. The first bunker has now been completed by our green keeping team on the 18th fairway. The process has allowed us to re-define the bunker shape - moulding it into the fairway, there is new drainage and a base lining that will be entirely rabbit proof and will also stop any stones being dug up to the surface from below (to be added shortly). In addition to removing the issues of stones in bunkers, the base lining will act to allow the depth of sand and consistency of playing surface to be maintained more easily. The bunker face construction consists of up to 60 layers of recycled astro turf. The beauty of the structure is that revetted faces are of course classic links style whilst being massively more resilient than traditional methods using natural turf. Next time you're at the Links please take an opportunity to view it for yourself and feel free to pass your feedback on to Dave or Will or indeed the greenkeepers themselves. The finished playing level will be approximately 5 inches higher than at present. Here's how they did it...
All Members are please required to repair pitchmarks & fill divots with sand bags or sand boxes on tees. Please ensure you book a tee-time prior to play to avoid any disappointment on arrival.

Having lost out on countback last year our immediate past captain Mike Horsthuis (9) won the 2019 Capital International sponsored Castletown Cup after a three way tie on nett 66. Shooting the same score Loni Evans (15) was the runaway winner off the red tees thwarting island open champion Shirley Price’s attempt to retain her Castletown title.

Captain’s Day at Castletown Golf Club is always special and with 117 players taking part No.19 was especially busy serving complimentary tea and coffee before the round followed by curry, rice and chips afterwards. And yet Will Halsall (10) still found time to sneak out and win the new trophy put forward by captain Geoff Sugden who was personally manning the drinks gazebo by the 13th.

The clear winner of the SMP Partners sponsored Medal was Steven Boyd (3) who knocked in a nifty nett 66. His one under par 71 also garnered the gross prize. Boyd was bidding for a nett 70 having brushed in birdies on the 12th and the 15th but a dreaded double bogey on the 17th set him back to square. It took another birdie at the last to lift him one clear of his closest competitors.
