Castletown Golf Club

Course Re-rating to begin in September – Give us your views please

All of the golf courses in the UK are required to have new course ratings completed as part of a new drive where the current course SSS system
is being adjusted to fall somewhat closer into line with the Slope rating system used in the US.

Excitingly this presents us with a brilliant opportunity to review the location of where the permanent tee markers are set at Castletown and to
make some alterations to their position so as to best ensure that each set of tees provides a suitable challenge for the level of player that will
most likely choose it.

We need your help in determining if and where any such alterations will be made. Please feel free to drop into the clubhouse and speak to
us to find out more. It’s important to note that the new course rating will not take effect until the new 18th is in play, which is anticipated to
be at the beginning of summer 2018. This is because the rating process cannot be completed until such time.

As well as alterations to existing tee positions we will be creating a new set of tee markers to provide a better opportunity for both beginner
and younger golfers to fully enjoy the challenge that the Links presents. In line with the recent move to begin making all Saturday competitions
playable from the Blue, White, or Yellow tees we feel this is a brilliant step in removing barriers and hopefully encouraging all members to
participate more in the many great club events that are available.

For those who are interested to learn more about how this rating system has been developed and the factors considered, you will no
doubt find the document created by England Golf most useful! You could link directly to it by clicking here
